National hero of the Philippines, currently on special duty to Millennium City

Commander Philippines is the national hero of the Philippines, sent by his government to aid the superheroes of Millennium City in their battles against crime.

History[]

Much of Commander Philippines’ past is classified by the Philippine Government; however, his official biography, as well as his current activities, do give something of a picture of his past.

Taken hostage by terrorists in a small village, his powers first manifested when special forces agents stormed to village. He abruptly found himself projecting blasts of fire, and quickly learned to control them. Taking command of the situation, he eliminated several of the terrorists while rescuing the hostages present. The commander of the special forces team was impressed not only by his powers, but also by the way he had taken control of the situation, joking on camera that he was the “commander” of the situation.

The commander arranged for him to be introduced to the Philippine Bureau of Superhuman Heroes (PBSH), the government’s special agency that monitored Superhuman activity in the country. They were immediately impressed with him; in spite of only recently manifesting, he was already one of the most powerful superhuman in the nation. Taking this onboard, the PBSH’s leadership offered him a chance to work for them as a symbol of the country.

Glad to work with them for the benefit of his nation, the young man agreed to act as a superhuman symbol of his nation. Taking the name “Commander Philippines”, he was soon battling superhuman and mundane threats all across the nation alongside its police and military forces, as well as the country’s few other superheroes.

After several years of success, the PBSH approached Commander Philippines with a special mission; he would be sent to Millennium City to help deal with the superhuman threats there, as well as to act as a goodwill ambassador to the American Superhero community as a whole. He eagerly agreed; glad to raise his country’s profile – and his own. However, initially, matters didn’t go as planned; he found that many American threats were more powerful then those he had come to expect at home, and often he needed help to defeat such foes.

It was after one such defeat that he first encountered what would become his greatest enemy, the mysterious shape shifter known as Masque. The woman seemed to be determined to torture and confound the Commander in an effort to break his spirit, using her shapeshifting abilities to confound him and try to ruin his life. However, she has so far been defeated at every turn, with Commander Philippines managing to defeat her on numerous occasions. Despite this, she remains determined.

Powers/Abilities[]

Commander Philippines’ mutation gives him the power to generate and control fire and allows him to use it in a number of ways. The first and most obvious way is that he is able to project blasts and streams of fire from his hands; his powers give him some ability to “shape” his blasts, allowing him to create explosions, cones of fire, small fireballs or even continuous streams like a flamethrower. Besides fire projection, his mutation allows him to fly at high speeds, as well as generate fiery shields that protect him from harm.

In addition to his fire projection abilities, he is very resilient and resistant to harm, presumably a secondary mutation. Finally, he is a trained kickboxer, and shut is quite capable of defending himself even without his powers.

Personality[]

Commander Philippines is a dedicated and patriotic hero, and rather proud of his nation and his heritage; some might say that he is ‘’too’’ proud of it; he seems to spend endless hours talking about his homeland and how he is proud to be its defender and greatest hero (Some have suggested that he acts like he was it’s only hero). He never backs down from a fight and strives to do the right thing, but often seems to be striving for the publicity and attention that comes with it.

His attitudes can often be best described as patronising; he has a tendency to take charge of any situation, regardless of if it is needed or not, and often bosses others around, even if they might be better suited to be in command. He seems to get on the nerves of other heroes by simply being around them; this is especially true of other national heroes who will inevitably be put down for simply not being from the Philippines. He has an intense rivalry with Max Dash as a result of this.

He is currently in a long distance relationship with Bollywood actress Sonja Amaraa, who he met at a charity event.

Appearance[]

Commander Philippines is an average sized, but solidly built man in his mid 20s. he has short, slicked black hair and dark brown eyes that dominate ruggedly handsome features. His costume is prominently red and white, with a blue trim and a yellow sunburst on his chest, the symbol of the Philippines. He does not wear a mask.
